Hadaret Umer narrated that once we were sitting beside Rasool Allah (PBUH) one man suddenly appeared there. His clothes were too white and hairs were too black. We did not observe any signs of traveling on him and no body knew him. He entered into the gathering and went straight to Rasool Allah (PBUH) and sat in front of him by touching his knees with his knees and put his palms on his thighs. He asked Rasool Allah (PBUH) “tell me about Emaan (faith)”. Rasool Allah told him that Emaan is that you believe in One Allah, His angles, His books, His prophets and in destiny either it is good of bad from Allah. He spoke that answer is quite correct. Hadaret Umer said we astonished to know that he himself put question to Rasool Allah (PBUH) and himself certify the answer.
Further he asked Rasool Allah (PBUH) inform me about Islam. Rasool Allah (PBUH) said that you believe in one God and you offer prayers five times in a day, you keep fasts in the holy month of Ramadan, pay zikkat and perform pilgrimage if you can bear its expenditures. He said this answer is also correct.
Further he asked Rasool Allah (PBUH), “tell me how ones should offer his prayers. Rasool Allah told him that you should offer your prayers that you are looking at God Almighty, if you cannot do so, then you image that God is looking at you.
He asked Rassol Allah (PBUH) that when the Day of Judgment will come. Rasool Allah (PBUH) told him that I know about the Day of Judgment as he knows who put me this question. He spoke, Ok. Let me know about some signs of Day of Judgment. Rasool Allah (PBUH) told that maid servant will give birth his owner. Secondly who graze the sheep and goats on the mountains will erect huge buildings and pride of it. The man said this answer is also correct and he left within no time. Rasool Allah (PBUH) asked me “Umer! Do you know about this man. I said Allah and his messenger know better. Rasool Allah (PBUH) said that he was Jabriel (angel of God) who came to tell you about your religion.
